Tallinn - Capital of European Law 2012
Dear participants and friends of the XXV FIDE Congress!
The XXV FIDE Congress in Tallinn, the Capital of European Law 2012, has come to a close. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants, speakers and moderators for their substantial contribution to the development of European Union law and European law more broadly.
I am pleased that we were able to introduce FIDE and the topics of the Congress during the Youth Congress that was held prior to the main event, that we included the European Court of Human Rights in our discussions and that so many leading experts shared information with us concerning their work.
Some 550 participants from 35 countries around the world attended the 50th jubilee FIDE Congress in Tallinn, including 50 national rapporteurs for the three main topics.
I am also pleased to announce that the ranks of FIDE now include the European Law Association of Lithuania that was granted full membership status during the Congress.
The transcripts of the speeches made during the opening and closing plenary sessions, the summaries of the discussions in the working groups for the three main topics and photos from the Congress will soon be available on the Congress website.
I wish to express my gratitude once again to everyone who supported and contributed to the success of the FIDE Congress, foremost to Mag. iur. Merli Vahar and Dr. iur. Priidu Pärna of the Organising Committee, all of whom are listed in the programme book and on our website under “About the XXV FIDE Congress”.
May FIDE continue to soar and unite great minds of European law.
Sincerely,
Prof. Julia Laffranque
